What is Self-promotion?

When you participate in this community you are invited to share your thoughts and opinions when they are helpful to the group.  Give more than you take!

Self-promotion is NOT helpful to the group.  The clue is in the word “self”!  This is a space to transcend the self and build a community that is characterised by care and concern for all and devotion to the common good.  Self-promotion makes people uncomfortable and works against people sharing openly for fear that they become an object. This is creepy.

The moderators will delete any posts that fit the following definition of self-promotion:

  • Selling anything – that includes products, services, courses, events, programs
  • Promoting your webinar or event, even if they are offered for free.
  • Posting a link to your OWN website or Facebook group
  • Posting affiliate links (you will be banned)
  • Posting your own content and not in a relevant thread.  This includes posting links to surveys or creating surveys in the group, posting your social handles, URLS or business name AND posting “free” offers.  (see the definition of Spam)
  • Contacting others in the threads via private messaging to sell or promote anything.  If you notices this kind of behaviour, please report it to admin@ immediately, ideally with a screenshot of the message).

Here is a very frank article about why self-promotion on someone else’s blog, facebook group, or any other media is damaging to you, as well as to the group.  It also gives some great tips about how to add value to an online community that boosts your integrity and ultimately your business while also achieving the common good.
